February Membership Drive
The
Council is having a membership drive in February that will culminate with a
double degree ceremony at the March 1st meeting. If you can help with recruiting activities
after masses during February please contact Grand Knight Barry Rodgers.

The
Clinton Council meets on the first Monday of every month in the Parish
Activity Center at St. John the Evangelist Church at 80 Union Street in
Clinton. The Grand Knight for 2008-2009 is Barry Rodgers. You can contact the

The State Council is headed this year by State Deputy William F. Donovan.
There are currently 52 Districts in the State of Massachusetts.
Council 1701 is part of District 15 consisting of the following Councils:
Alhambra Council 88, Worcester, Massachusetts
Crusader Council 2706, College of the Holy Cross, Worcester,
Massachusetts
Anna Maria Council 9732, Paxton, Massachusetts
Clinton Council 1701, Clinton, Massachusetts
Assumption College Council 11202, Assumption College, Worcester,
Massachusetts

Regular
Council meetings are held the first Monday of every month in the Activity
Center at St. John the Evangelist Church. The entrance for the Parish Center
is located in the rear of the church adjacent to the lower parking lot

On
Sunday, September 28, 1913, Clinton Council 1701 was instituted. The
ceremonies opened with Mass at Saint John the Evangelist Church with the
Reverand Thomas Burke of Rutland, Vermont as celebrant. Following Mass the
candidates marched to the Town Hall where breakfast was served. In the
afternoon, the First and Second Degrees were conferred and at six o'clock,
over 600 men sat down to dinner. In the evening the Third Degree was
conferred by District Deputy Gallagher.
The first officers were: Grand Knight, John J. Burke; Deputy Grand Knight,
Lawrence Cummings; Chancellor, Michael Scanlon; Recording Secretary, Daniel
Nyhen; Financial Secretary, Howard Cummings; Treasurer, John McGee; Advocate,
Joseph Leahy; Warden, Peter Connelly; Inside Guard, Henry Kittredge; Outside
Guard, Charles O'Malley; Trustees, Joseph Murman, Frank Murphy, and Joseph
Broderick. There was a charter membership of 57.
The Clinton Council works closely with the parishes of St. John the
Evangelist, Our Lady of Jasna Gora, and Holy Rosary in Clinton, providing
funds and manpower for various projects. In addition, the Council organizes
local charitable projects and provides local scholarships, sports awards and
more.
