About Our Council
On Sunday, September 28, 1913, Clinton Council 1701 was instituted. The ceremonies opened with Mass at Saint John the Evangelist Church with the Reverand Thomas Burke of Rutland, Vermont as celebrant. Following Mass the candidates marched to the Town Hall where breakfast was served. In the afternoon, the First and Second Degrees were conferred and at six o'clock, over 600 men sat down to dinner. In the evening the Third Degree was conferred by District Deputy Gallagher.

The first officers were: Grand Knight, John J. Burke; Deputy Grand Knight, Lawrence Cummings; Chancellor, Michael Scanlon; Recording Secretary, Daniel Nyhen; Financial Secretary, Howard Cummings; Treasurer, John McGee; Advocate, Joseph Leahy; Warden, Peter Connelly; Inside Guard, Henry Kittredge; Outside Guard, Charles O'Malley; Trustees, Joseph Murman, Frank Murphy, and Joseph Broderick. There was a charter membership of 57.

The Clinton Council works closely with the parishes of St. John the Evangelist, Our Lady of Jasna Gora, and Holy Rosary in Clinton, providing funds and manpower for various projects. In addition, the Council organizes local charitable projects and provides local scholarships, sports awards and more.
